FREE 10th anniversary giveaway! Singularly Superb available for listening at Grooveshark!

Hello again all mv fans!

More free music! Yes! Grooveshark!

This is the situation. Between us, AEGRE and myself have discussed the mad_vicar 2011 tenth anniversary, and whilst a special boxed set with all the albums, but additionally, tons of other interesting bits and pieces (some deleted singles, collaborations, unfinished tracks, different versions of popular mv songs, that sort of thing) is on the cards - probably around Chrimble or the New Year - we wanted to do something nice in the meantime. And so the album "Singularly Superb" came about.

Singularly Superb is a collection of singles, B sides, and unreleased tracks that Dex (representing AEGRE) and I put together from the mv archives. Just for the record, I realise that earlier this year it seemed that AEGRE and I were falling out and at loggerheads. Over the last couple of months, all the gripes and worries have been ironed out, and AEGRE, Dex, and I are now of one mind and I am very happy to be associated with AEGRE. I'm getting off topic (again!) but I wanted to set the record straight about that. We are now Shiny Happy People again!

Back to Singularly Superb. The album title was suggested by Dex, and I am all blushing and tearful about it - I am usually quite modest, but that title makes me feel a bit proud! Superb eh?

So it works like this: We are currently uploading the whole thing to Grooveshark so that anyone who fancies a listen can go there and enjoy it for FREE! Just trundle over to www.grooveshark.com and search for mad_vicar, and you're set! There are 14 tracks - yes 14! count them! - for your delictation, and some of them are really long, much longer than the album versions, or remixed and fiddled about with, so enjoy!

Something I would like to point out is the final track: "The Winds of Karachai", for those who haven't heard it yet. It's supposed to be part of the track listing for mad_vicar VIII, somewhere in the middle! It's around 12 minutes long, and all the way through, if you look for it, you can hear double-tracked wind blowing. The wind is different in both left and right speakers, and fades in and out depending on what's going on with the music. Rather like the "Liquidators" album, you can hear mv himself "narrating" the track. This narration is important because (again, like "Liquidators") it explains everything. Yes, the vocals have been mucked about with, what else would you expect from a mad_vicar track?! So whilst it IS my voice, it has gone through some interesting processing to boost it and give a bit more oomph - and a bit of reverb, which as die-hard mv followers will know, I really enjoy. So summing up "Karachai" is a simple song in it's makeup, but the message is the thing. Again!

And to properly sum up, I would advise those who enjoy my music to listen to "Karachai" with an open mind, hear the explanation/narration, and understand what I am trying to achieve. My biggest piece of luck regarding my music is that the die-hard mad_vicar followers are very intelligent and excited by what I produce - at least, according to an AEGRE survey! I think this is a wonderful thing, and whilst I am always very thankful for, and grateful to, the people who listen to my music and then get in touch to tell me how much they enjoyed it. It is a very humbling thing to get an email from someone out there in the world saying "great stuff" or "liked that a lot". I ALWAYS welcome feedback and am very interested in how the listeners felt about it. DO PLEASE send comments to the blog, or via email, and I WILL get back to you.

Wandered a bit off topic there! The point is, AEGRE and I are offering "Singularly Superb" to you, the great listening public, for nothing, free, bugger all, gratis. Consider it a thank you for listening to my stuff for the last ten years. Or just a load of tunes to enjoy. Or whatever.

That location again: www.grooveshark.com and search for "mad_vicar". Get yer ears on!

All my love to all of you out there,

mv

A BIG PS: Please enjoy the new music, but remember that that perennial favourite "Porn for the Ears", which is Track 4 on "Singularly Superb" contains a great deal of rude lyrics. Don't play it to kids, grannies, or out your bedroom window first thing on a Sunday morning. Other than that, I remain really proud of it, and for some reason the live crowds bloody love it! Take care y'all, and I hope to have more news soon.

Get along to Grooveshark to hear mad_vicar 7 in all it's glory!

Hello again all mv fans!

Here is a little status report. Firstly, for those who partake of Grooveshark (www.grooveshark.com), you can find a complete version of the "7" album if you search for mad_vicar. I thought it would be nice to release it via a different outlet this time. I am hoping to upload the album to YouTube soon too, but this will involve making a "board" or "test card" type visual to make a sham video, just so I get the music uploaded quickly. It's a bit fiddly, and right now I can't call upon the collective that created the excellent videos for "Liquidators" as they are swamped with "other projects". I will explore other ways to get "7" to as many FREE outlets as possible. For the moment though, Grooveshark has the whole album and I would advise anyone who fancies a listen to mosey over that direction.

With all the love in the world, this is mad_vicar, signing off for now.

Another scotched rumour, this time about Flotation Toy Warning!

Hello all mv fans everywhere! Whilst I am very happy that rumours abound about a collaboration with Floatation Toy Warning, I have to scotch them right here. I think the word got out because I am listening to FTW at the moment, quite a lot - in fact, FTW and mc chris are high up on the playlist right now. These rumours that get about regarding me and other cool bands are quite nice and I take them as a wonderful compliment! I don't know how they get started, but so often these days I find my main bloggy messages are scotching rumours about collaborations. Weird, but nice. So that's that bit. I shall post another in a minute about what I am really in fact actually really in real life doing. Back in a mo.
