The Semi-Complete mad_vicar Discography
mv01   "Holy Shit" - Summer 2001 (AEGRE)

My first work as mad_vicar, evolving into a more electronic sound. Not a very long album, there is something on it to offend everybody, or your money back.

Tracks: 1) Radio Vilnius, 2) Cast Your Nets, 3) Dyke Fingering, 4) The Circle, 5) Porn For The Ears, 6) Xtreme Xtianity, 7) Underpants. There are variations that have several more tracks, but this is the track listing for the album proper.

mv02   "The Happiness Police" - January 2002 (AEGRE)

Experimenting more now with atmospherics, mv02 was loosely based around a theme: That anytime a person tries to enjoy themselves, just a little, The Happiness Police will come and make trouble. The government of the time were increasingly bringing in laws that restricted freedoms, such as smoking in pubs etc. With this idea in mind, and a fresh batch of samples to be let loose, I embarked upon a musical version of The Happiness Police.

Tracks: 1) THP Helpline, 2) Theme From The Happiness Police, 3) Adverts Kill Me, 4) Ring Tone, 5) The Goddess of Rhythm, 6) A Good Handful, 7) Test Card B, 8) Call The Police! 9) Car Crash, 10) Test Card A, 11) Pissing On Your Picnic (Remix)

mv03   Beyond The Physics of Queuing   June 2002/June 2008

A bit of a strange tale here. mv03 was recorded between March and May 2002, and was expecting to be released in June 2002. Then suddenly, AEGRE "shelved" it. There were ten decent tracks; one of which was a remix of a cut called "Stone Age", by an artist I admire greatly - LiJa, who has made some excellent videos for me - and it was a solid album. However, a parody track about a conceited "music guru", scared the AEGRE Legal Department and the release was put on hold, temporarily. I wanted the track on mv03, and they wanted it off. I didn't want mv03 to go out without the parody included. AEGRE has always been great with me, but I felt proper peeved about their nervousness. The delay went on and on, and although a cut or two saw the light of day as CD single bonus tracks here and there.

By now, my father and I had severed relations, and I wanted to make an album reflecting my anger (see mv04 below) and so I was content to let AEGRE keep mv03 shelved. I could always look at it again at some point. That point came in June 2008. Maybe I mellowed over the five hiatus, and had a number of other albums under my belt. So I got out the masters and worked through them, checking and tweaking here and there. OK, so I backed down and made the 2008 version of mv03 a nine-track album - without the parody. It ultimately proved to be quite popular and renewed interest in LiJa's Stone Age cut all over again!

Tracks: 1) Alarm, 2) Egg Bound Bolan, 3) Groovy Tune, 4) R Cubed (Jam Sandwich Extension), 5) Rubber Plant, 6) Who's The Boss? 7) Name That Smell (Extended Remix), 8) The Membership, 9) Stone Age (Sword of Islam Mix)

mv04   Father Cares...    Autumn 2002

Relations with my father had broken down and the family was shot to pieces by his having an affair. Worse still was his manipulation of me as an unwitting pawn in the drama. I was devastated, and emotionally drained by all the experiences, so I did what I've always done in these situations - bury myself in books, although at this point in time, it was mainly the Internet on a laptop the weight of a breezeblock. I studied all about Jim Jones, The People's Temple, and the mass suicide in Guyana. An interesting thing I noticed was that his followers all called him "Dad". And he led them into disaster. Another abuse of faith and trust, and love. I found the parallels to be too compelling, and vowed to put all my anger and frustration into mv04. I think it still remains my most angry album.

The album runs along two streams - Jonestown and my father, the Jonestown tracks are titled separately though in case anyone felt like just hearing the Jonestown material, or vice versa.

Tracks: 1) Jonestown 1, 2) Big Hard Now, 3) Jonestown 4, 4) Mister Explosive, 5) Jonestown 2, 6) Tongues and Tunes, 7) Bastard Liar, 8) Jonestown 6: War Cries, 9) Jonestown 7: Aftermath

mv05    mad_vicar FIVE      Summer 2003

FIVE was always planned to be as fun, happy, enjoyable, and have none of the cynicism that usually
