Hello mv followers - all one of you,
A disaster has occurred at the Marsfeldenstrasse Studios, which has affected all projects going on there. Somehow, the main computer at the facility, Bowman, has completely broken down. We thought it was the power supply unit, and replaced it was a costly new model, only for the thing to break down again. This means everything has ground to a halt - even putting the work on the ten year retrospective in jeopardy - and for the first time ever, the lights have been darkened for more than three consecutive days.
I know that Dex will try and put some positive spin on this later on because:
a) he has to, that's his job
b) he is supplied by AEGRE to do this
c) my association with AEGRE is still in effect, and will be for a few more months
Personally, I am getting fed up with non-assistance from certain quarters. I mean, on the one hand, it's good to get out of the studios for a bit, see some real daylight, and rest up. However, I am right in the middle of things at the moment and is not when I would have chosen for an impromptu holiday! I mean to say, it's fine for certain organisations to be your main cheerleaders when things are going well, then as soon as there is a problem, they don't offer any support at all. This is the sort of thing that really gets my goat you know?
Perhaps I should offer to GIVE AWAY the big Retrospective box set? I wonder if this might stir things up a bit? Considering all I really need to carry on with what I'm doing is a relatively powerful new PC. As always, I have never cared about technical points such as "revenue streams" and "profit margins". Producing, say, a couple of hundred Retrospectives, numbering them, and giving them out to friends and supporters who have been around since those heady days of Summer 2001, would make me just as happy as producing thousands of them for general sale. I'm sorry, but I honestly have never been in it for the money *unlike Supergrass :-) * and I don't care if Retrospective makes dollar one. Furthermore, and tantalisingly, new tracks were being created on the old PC - but on a separate hard drive inside, one kept solely for data. I have this hard drive, all safe and sound. I hope we all know what that means. Either way, genuine fans will get to hear them at some point, although who can say what label these tracks might end up on?
Other than that, I am not going to stay idle in the meantime. A local group has sent me a demo! How exciting! I think that they are looking for a producer and studio facilities. A preliminary listen shows that they have some promise, and need really just a bit of polish. But still, very exciting for me! I shall keep you up to date on this situation.
Also, I have been asked back to the PMR/Transnistria again. Other dates played there in the past have been proper scorchers, and so it looks like I am unexpectedly free to take up the invitation. More on this soon too.
That's more or less all my news for now. I've been listening alternately to The Who Live at Leeds, and the Sex Pistols box set, on the music player of late. Pretty diverse choices, although they are linked by the track "Substitute" which The Who wrote and released in the 60s, and the Sex Pistols did their own rather splendid version in the 70s. A connection of sorts.
Speaks to you all soon!
Take care y'all,
mv
